Bought by Conrad Hilton in 1919 when that was the only way he could get a place to sleep, hotel became first in Hilton chain. Hilton saw a financial opportunity in providing rooms to oil field workers; rooms were rented for eight-hour shifts, thus tripling the normal income. Restored, the hotel now serves as chamber of commerce office and community center. Two rooms restored to 1919 look; another features historical museum.
